Hollywood didn’t just sanitize fairy tales.
They took ACTUAL history, ignored all the atrocities, threw in some talking animals, and called it a day.
And today?
WE’RE CALLING THEM OUT.
Because behind every “historically inspired” animated film is a real-life tragedy so horrifying it makes Grimm’s Fairy Tales look like a Saturday morning cartoon.

PART 3: HOLLYWOOD ERASED HISTORY AND REPLACED IT WITH A MUSICAL NUMBER
1. Mulan – The Real Story Was NOT a Girlboss Moment
The Disney version of Mulan:
✔ A clumsy but brave girl disguises herself as a man.
✔ She kicks butt, saves China, and defies the odds.
✔ She comes home as a hero, and her family is proud.
A QUEEN. A LEGEND. A BADASS.
Now, the real story?
OH, BUCKLE UP.
✔ In the original Chinese ballad, Mulan does fight in the war—FOR 12 YEARS.
✔ She isn’t found out. She just quietly retires.
✔ BUT when she returns home, she realizes her family is gone, her life has no meaning, and she straight-up kills herself.
THAT’S RIGHT.
The OG Mulan doesn’t get a victory parade—she gets a funeral.
And Disney looked at this story and went:
“Hmm, what if we threw in a dragon sidekick and a catchy song about masculinity instead?”
BURN IT ALL DOWN.

2. The Jungle Book – The Real Story Was Basically “Bear Grylls: Child Endangerment Edition”
In the Disney version:
✔ A cute orphan boy is raised by wolves.
✔ He befriends a chill bear and sings about the simple life.
✔ He faces a tiger, wins, and finds a nice village girl.
ADORABLE. HEARTWARMING. WHOLESOME.
Now let’s talk about Rudyard Kipling’s ACTUAL version.
✔ Mowgli isn’t just raised by wolves—he straight-up thinks he’s a wolf.
✔ When he finally meets humans, they immediately REJECT HIM.
✔ The villagers attack him and try to burn him alive.
✔ Mowgli then RETURNS TO THE JUNGLE and slaughters the village’s cattle in revenge.
✔ He spends the rest of his life wandering, never fully belonging anywhere.
SO BASICALLY:
Mowgli was doomed from the start.
But Disney saw this grim tale of isolation and revenge and said:
“Nah, let’s just give him a bear bestie and a banger about chillin’ in the jungle.”
DISNEY.
WHAT. THE. HELL.

3. Anastasia – You Know This Was a Brutal Massacre, Right?
DreamWorks’ Anastasia wants you to believe:
✔ The Russian princess escaped the Bolsheviks.
✔ She had amnesia and just needed to “find herself.”
✔ She fell in love, sang some songs, and lived happily ever after.
NOW LET’S TALK ABOUT THE ACTUAL ROMANOVS.
✔ The real Anastasia did not escape.
✔ Her entire family was murdered.
✔ She and her sisters were shot, stabbed, and beaten to death in a basement.
✔ There was no magical Rasputin villain—just a brutal execution.
DreamWorks looked at one of the most infamous assassinations in modern history and went:
“Hmm, what if we turned this into a quirky rom-com?”
BURN IT ALL DOWN.

4. Pocahontas – The Film That Should Be Considered a War Crime
Disney’s Pocahontas is next-level historical fiction.
✔ Pocahontas is a beautiful, free-spirited young woman.
✔ She and John Smith fall in love.
✔ They bridge the gap between their people through the power of song and understanding.
Oh, you sweet, innocent fool.
✔ The real Pocahontas was 10 years old when John Smith arrived.
✔ There was NO romance between them.
✔ She was kidnapped, held hostage, and FORCED to marry a guy named John Rolfe.
✔ She was shipped off to England, paraded around like an exotic pet, and DIED AT 21.
AND DISNEY TOOK THIS STORY AND SAID:
“Let’s turn this into a forbidden love story with a talking tree.”
WE. LET. THEM. GET. AWAY. WITH. THIS.

FINAL THOUGHTS: HOLLYWOOD HAS BEEN GASLIGHTING US FOR YEARS
✔ Disney? GUILTY.
✔ DreamWorks? GUILTY.
✔ Every studio that has ever turned a real tragedy into a family musical? SEND THEM TO JAIL.
At this point, animated history movies are just elaborate fanfiction.
Nothing we were taught was real.
Every “historical” animated film is basically a cover-up.
We have been living a LIE.
And guess what?
WE ATE IT UP.
We sang along, cheered for the heroes, and believed the fairy tale versions of these stories.
And for what?!
✔ The real Mulan died alone.
✔ The real Jungle Book wasn’t fun, it was a tragedy.
✔ The real Anastasia was brutally executed.
✔ The real Pocahontas was kidnapped and never saw home again.
AND YET HERE WE ARE, SINGING “COLORS OF THE WIND” LIKE NOTHING HAPPENED.
